Each year SDMHA presents awards to manufacturers for the most homes shipped into the state for the previous year. This year's first place award for most homes shipped by a single factory went to Friendship Homes. The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Moving Forward Act, a $1.5 trillion plan to rebuild America’s infrastructure, which included two key manufactured housing provisions – the establishment of a program at HUD to fund the preservation of manufactured home communities and expansion and extension of the 45L Energy Efficient Home Tax Credit. The Senate version is likely going to look dramatically different but MHI, our national watchdog, continues to work with both chambers to support the inclusion of these two provisions in any infrastructure bill.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is extending the licensing renewal period for manufactured home installers due to the impact of COVID-19. HUD has issued an automatic extension on the renewal of installer licenses expiring between March 31 and November 30. Licenses set to expire within that time will be extended to December 31, 2020.
